Meet Popular Girl Natalie Alyn Lind! If you haven’t seen the Marvel TV show “The Gifted”, you need to! I don’t want to give anything away, but trust me once you watch one episode you will binge watch the whole first season, which is perfect because then you will be all caught up for season 2, which just came out last week!
We were so excited we got a chance to catch up with Natalie and ask her some of our exclusive questions!
Tell us about your show “The Gifted”
The Gifted is an X-men spin-off series. The show takes place in a world where mutants are being mistreated and their worlds are crumbling around them. Everyone is fighting for survival. The show follows a common family, “The Struckers’” journey after they realize the two siblings are mutants. The Struckers are forced to go on the run, and create a new life, in constant fear of being taken in by the Sentinel Services.
Tell us about your character Lauren Strucker?
I feel extremely grateful that I have the opportunity to create a character like Lauren.. A character that is relatable- in the world of chaos she’s been forced to live in. In season one.. Lauren has the perfect teenage life, but what you don’t realize is that she’s hiding a secret.. In the social society that The Gifted takes place in, being a mutant is seen as a disability, and even worse, a threat. She hides her true identity for years because of the fear of how others will perceive her. After overcoming that fear, she breaks out of her shell, and embraces who she is and joins the war of the Mutant Underground where she becomes an advocate for equality and peace. I appreciate that she always puts her family and loved ones before her own needs, and will protect and fight for them at all cost.
Have you always wanted to be an actor?
I was raised in the movie industry. My mom is an actor, and my dad is a producer. So as it follows, pursuing my acting passion was a logical path for me. I have great memories of being on set before I could speak, and being in awe of the magic of TV and movie making. I knew immediately it was something I needed to be part of. I used to beg my mom to run lines with me, and she quickly realized that it would be in my future. I landed a role on her show, “One Tree Hill” and I never looked back.
Dream concert ticket (any band, any decade?)
I would love to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in concert. I grew up listening to their music. “Scar Tissue” is one of my favorite songs.
Right now, I love Hozier. I contemplate everyday wether he’s real or an angel sent from above.
“Mr. Brightside” from the Killers is my go to for karaoke. I’ve been killing that shit since 2005.
I’ve always had an addiction for all things horror. When I was two years old, my godfather (Thomas Dekker) showed me John Carpenter’s, “Halloween.” I’ve been obsessed ever since. Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” has always been my favorite movie.. I’ve seen it more times than I can count.
My favorite snack? Bananas…dipped in pumpkin butter. When my mom was pregnant with me, her obsession was banana bread. When I was born, banana baby food was my favorite until I graduated to real bananas. My nickname has always been, “Banana.” (and pumpkin butter because it reminds me of halloween) (I LOVE HALLOWEEN)
I’m a Walking Dead addict. I remember when the first episode aired, I was instantly hooked. I’ll be a die hard till the very end. Walkers for Life.
Last fashion item purchased?
Belts are a huge staple in my wardrobe. I wear them with EVERYTHING to dress up… or down an outfit. Last week I bought an off-white belt to take me into fall. It goes with everything! Splurging on yourself once in a while is a necessity.
Three people—dead or alive, real or fictional—that you’d like to invite to dinner?
1. Emma Gonzalez, is someone I look up to in so many ways, even though we are the same age. She is changing the world. Her strength, courage and intelligence are creating a path for our future.
2. Brigitte Bardot, she’s an icon. I’ve always been in awe of her beauty and class. I would love to grab brunch with her, hear her Hollywood stories, and ask her for some 50/60’s makeup/hair tips.
3. Quentin Tarantino- he’s always been an inspiration of mine. His vision and artistry are incredible.. I’d love to hear his take on film making. I’ll invite him to the Brigitte Bardot lunch.
Do you have a party trick?
My favorite party trick is being able to finish an entire pie in under 90 seconds. I’ve competed in 6 different pie eating contests, and won every time.
Tell us a secret?
Pigs are the light of my life. They’re my favorite animal. I love love love pigs. So much, that I don’t eat any pork products and will not allow anyone in my vicinity to eat anything “pig”. No bacon for me!
What does popular mean to you?
