While Coachella attracted all the California girls, the East Coast got the city kids to come out to Made In America for Labor Day weekend. For first-time performers Marian Hill, playing the festival was a huge deal. The duo—comprised of Samantha Gongol and Jeremy Lloyd—definitely had their starstruck moments (courtesy of Beyonce) and wanted to capture every moment they could from the festival. Native to Philly, the jazzy electro-pop duo released With a debut EP release under their belt via Photofinish/Republic Records and more music on the way, Marian Hill was in good company alongside artists like BANKS, Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Halsey, Ryan Hemsworth and more. The duo filled us in on their MIA experience and took us through a visual journey of their weekend.

Best part of the fest:
Samantha + Jeremy: The crowd at our performance!

Favorite bands to catch:
Samantha: BANKS, Beyoncé (obviously) and The Weeknd.
Jeremy: Death Cab For Cutie, Big Sean, and the above too of course.

Favorite song to play at the fest:
Samantha + Jeremy: “Got It.”

The coolest discoveries:
Samantha: Not a discovery per se, but it was crazy to see Philly transform and become a national music destination for tens of thousands of people. We’d heard so much about Made In America but had never been, and it was awesome to be able to perform.
Jeremy: Totally—it’s an area we know pretty well and to see it become a full-on festival right in front of the art museum was pretty magical.

The takeaway:
Samantha + Jeremy: Despite the heat and intense dust, Made In America was awesome and we want to play it again. Also, Beyoncé continues to be flawless and awe-inspiring. Queen Bey has a firm hold on her vast and glittering kingdom.
